HOW TO STUDY FOR EXAMS

This is only for those who don’t study throughout the year and when exam comes it becomes a nightmare .At that time it become race to see how fast you can go through your syllabus.With exam approaching near ,there are many of you who try to do same.

Now, as exams pressure is on we think of study for long hours to complete our syllabus which is not something very good idea .The best way to study with full concentration in small pockets and taking short interval of breaks .Please focus on how much you want to study not on how long you study ,this will make a big difference and will help you to complete your syllabus more effectively.

EFFECTIVE TIPS ON HOW TO STUDY FOR EXAMS 

 

1. DON’T STUDY FOR MORE THAN 1:30 HOURS IN ONE GO

The minimum period of regular study in 1:30 hr ,now while studying for 1:30 hr break this time into slots 40 min of solid study followed by 5 min of breaks .If ,you want to study for 1:30 take a long break around 15 min and then continue the same process.

2. STUDY SMALL PORTION AT ONE TIME

Don’t try to cover large portion of your syllabus at one time study smaller quantities every day.If you try to cover chapters quickly you will not be able to memorize all and at last you will forgot most of the things at the time of exams .

3. CORE MATERIAL SHOULD BE YOUR MAIN FOCUS

Study material in a syllabus can be divided into core material and elaborative material. While core material consists of important principles, theorems, formulae, important diagrams and graphs, elaborative material consists of examples, quotes, illustrations etc. As much as 85 per cent of the questions asked in an exam are likely to come from the core material. So, if you are struggling with unfinished syllabus, concentrate on the core material of the different subjects. Moreover, study the question patterns of the last few years and make sure you are not spending too much time on topics that are highly unlikely to be asked in the exam.

 

4. BREAK SHOULD BE PROVIDED AT REGULAR INTERVALS

Break ,means break keep your mind should be free from any exam related thoughts .If you are using your break time in discussing the syllabus or chapter with your friends or planing what will be your next step ,sorry your mind is not on break .

5. LEARN AND WRITE

Reading the chapters and highlighting important portions help a lot, but when you write down the important points you read in a piece of rough paper or your notebook, it helps you retain information even more. Read important points aloud and write them down after. This makes sure that you don’t just SEE the points, but you HEAR them and WRITE them too.THIS WILL SURELY HELP YOU ALOT .

6. MAKE LIST ON WHAT TIME YOU WILL STUDY WHICH SUBJECT

Schedule is also one of the most important part while studying .Memory dependant subjects  which contain a lot of material that need to be mugged up.Problem solving subjects such as Maths and Physics.Interpretation based subjects such as English Literature and literature papers from other languages.For most effective studying, you should alternate between each category of subjects in long study periods.

7. TRY TO VISUALS THINGS

Try to stick charts paper on wall and cupboards ,write down important formula ,dates or other information which you want to learn.When you will see these things  on regularly bases it will become more easy to learn these thing .

8. REVIEW THINGS AFTER 24 HOURS

NOW ,if we are studying new chapter which we have not studied before we need to take a review or revision of the chapter with in 24 hr because if we fail to do so 80 percent of the information will be lost as per science . Recapped, Reviewed and Reinforced within 24 hours .

9. SLEEP WELL

Most students stay up late till night to finish revising before exams. You need to remember that it is proper sleep that turns your short term memory-what you just studied, to long term memory-what you can recall sitting in the exam hall. So, sleep 7-8 hours every night to make sure all of your day’s studying is actually retained by your brain.

 

Follow these tips for long periods and you will finish your syllabus with in shot time.Try ,to explain things which you have study to someone at home or friends near or dear ones  .If you face trouble when you  explaining thing to them you will understand you need another revision.
